Making One’s Home in an Alien Place Near the Feng River, From the Jing She Temple Room, Send This to Palace Workers Yu and Zhang

From thousands of trees and clouds emerges a tall pavilion
In the west, bluish-green valley full of bamboo forests.
Building-top bedroom, remote mountains at daybreak
Soft and small hail falls onto a front courtyard among noisy sparrows.

Daoist heart subtle, stay awhile facing the Luo River
Human issues distant, closed door makes for emptiness.
Season to recall old friends, I miss being able to see you
At dawn you wait in line at the palace gate, awaiting an imperial gift.
