With Mr. Cui, Spent an Autumn Night as an On-Site Watchmen
High palace gate, autumn night
In the palace guardroom, we await the dawn to go home.
At nine, the palace doors trickle from each water-clock to penetrate the cold
From numerous villages, daybreak bells chime.
Moon remote, the North Star concealed
Clouds disappear, the Milky Way comes out.
Not proud of a declining life energy
Together on footpaths between the fields, heading south to the sounds of jade clicking together on our horse.
