In front of Tao Yuanming’s front door were five willow trees
General Ya Fu’s military camp had thousands of trees as well.
Reminds me of the land east of Luoyang in February
Their yellowish-gold twigs and branches mirror the Luoyang bridge.

 

Notes:

Tao Yuanming: (365-427) Famous Eastern Jin Dynasty poet.  His poems and biographical information can also be found on this website.  Tao’s five willow trees were the inspiration for one of his poems.  It was also a nickname he used for himself.

General Ya Fu: Famous army general during the Han Dynasty.
